The History Press is the UK’s largest local and specialist history publisher. We publish over 500 books a year on a wide range of subjects including Ancient, Medieval and Modern History, Transport, Biography, Popular Archaeology, Sport, Military History, Heritage, Leisure and Walking. Our bedrock is Local History. We publish books from Aberdeen to Zennor, Barnsley to Yeovil. In fact, nearly a third of all the local history books sold in Britain are published by us.
The roots of the present Company go back over three decades: the first title appeared in 1978. Since then we have grown steadily and now have sizeable offices in France, Germany and the USA; but the heart of the business remains where it started, in rural Gloucestershire.
